A Chip Off the Old Block, 2019
Eleven-year old Miyu Endersby is the first grandchild of “Whistling Jack” Endersby. Miyu has recently taken an interest in natural history, in particular bird-watching, and is keen to learn as much as she can about Australia’s native birds and bushcraft from her Grandfather. This, however, is not her only interest. She also pursues playing Australian Rules Football, the saxophone and drawing.
Both granddaughter and grandfather have a keen interest in world history and geography and understand that to study a biological science subject such as ornithology, and pass that knowledge on, is one more avenue towards saving the world for future generations. This is of particular importance in this new century of ever-increasing threats to the natural order and balance of life. Miyu’s acute eyesight and hearing gives her a distinct advantage over other student bird observers, while her “Poppa” says her quick mind, long attention span, and unusually advanced perception will soon have “The Chip” teaching the “Old Block” a few things!
The following are two of Miyu’s bird lists. Observations noted in the second list were made at school without the aid of her binoculars!
